Study of dynamic characteristic of a system by measuring and analyzing the dynamic response of structures is modal analysis. The experimental modal analysis is a nondestructive method, which can be used for troubleshooting, correlation between finite element and experiment, structural modification, etc. Usually the experimental modal analysis is done with single-input and multiple-output (SIMO) approach. In the SIMO approach there is one excitation point and response is measured at several points. To do so, modal analysis systems, which are composed of sensors, data acquisition system and host computer, are needed. Vibration and Modal Analysis (VMA) laboratory is a research laboratory in which analytical modeling, designing and developing of the following systems are considered:
- Vibration-based energy harvesting systems (Piezoelectric and Electromagnetic systems, ...)
- Vibration control systems (Dynamic Vibration Absorbers, ... )
- Biomedical systems (Parkinson and Tremor suppression systems, ...)
Vibration and Modal Analysis Laboratory, which has been around at the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, is founded by Dr. Aref Afsharfard in 2014.
